Players to get refunds — if they saved their tickets

The Missouri Lottery blundered Monday when it ended one numbers game and launched another, but will correct their mistake for players who saved their game tickets.

A total of 473 people were able to buy lottery tickets for the Show Me 5 Paydown game on Monday, even though the game's final drawing was held Sunday evening.

On Monday, the Missouri Lottery replaced its twice-daily Show Me 5 Paydown game with Show Me Cash, a similar Pick 5-style game with a better chance of winning a prize and drawings held once per day.

The erroneous tickets were sold for the midday drawing of the discontinued Show Me 5 Paydown game.  All of the invalid Show Me 5 Paydown tickets were sold between 1 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 7.

The replacement Show Me Cash game has no midday drawing.

The Missouri state lottery announced Tuesday that those who believe they bought a ticket for the non-existent drawing can get a refund by taking the ticket to a Missouri Lottery office or mailing it to lottery customer care.

Also, the state lottery will pay out if any of the numbers from the wrong tickets match those drawn Monday evening for the new game.  In a statement, the lottery confirmed that there are some winning tickets, although an exact number was not specified.

The lottery advised players to sign the back of their misprinted tickets before mailing them to the Lottery for a refund or prize payment.  Tickets should be mailed to the lottery at the following address:
